HarbourFest is back!

Updated: Dec 10, 2021

HarbourFest returns for 32nd year to Hilton Head Island’s Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. Shannon Tanner and Cappy the Clown entertain fun-loving crowd with music, family fun and fireworks. Popular festival runs until Labor Day weekend.

HarbourFest is Back

This summer, a fun-loving crowd of islanders and visitors alike will enthusiastically return to Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina, part of Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, to attend the Southern outdoor phenomenon known as HarbourFest.

32 years of HarbourFest

The popular HHI festival, which celebrates its 32nd anniversary in 2021, returns with music from the beloved Shannon Tanner, weekly Tuesday night fireworks and family friendly entertainment with Cappy the Clown.

Named a “Top 20 Event” by the Southeastern Tourism Society and a “Best of Southern Fests” by The South magazine, HarbourFest features Shannon Tanner performing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from June 16th through September 3rd — plus Sunday, July 4th — with two shows each day at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Amazing fireworks serve as Harbourfest’s grand centerpiece. This year, firework shows will be held on Tuesday nights from June 22nd until August 17th, beginning at dusk and weather permitting, as well as Hilton Head’s largest fireworks display on Sunday, July 4th. (Note: there is no Tuesday, July 6th show.) On fireworks nights, kids may also enjoy train rides around the marina promenade!

Guided kayak tours and boat cruises leave from Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina for a view of the fireworks from the water.

Shannon Tanner

Known for his trademark baseball hat with a propeller, Tanner has popularized catchy, sing-along songs like “My Hair Had a Party Last Night” and “Flying Purple People Eater.” His multi-generational show gets the crowd involved through energetic, animated singing and dancing.

Many parents who attended his shows as children return yearly with their own families. Tanner loves to write inspirational notes on kids’ beanie hats, signing a new panel every year. “We’re here each year to create family memories every night at HarbourFest,” Tanner says.

On Thursday evenings from June 24th through August 19th, starting at 7 p.m., HarbourFest turns into a Caribbean paradise with a special Parrot Palooza event featuring Shannon and his Jimmy Buffett tribute band, the Oyster Reefers. Shannon Tanner & The Oyster Reefers will wrap up the summer celebration during Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Sept 4th & Sunday, Sept 5th.

Cappy the Clown will be at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina every Monday through Friday this summer starting June 16th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Sunday, September 5th — plus Sunday, July 4th — to delight audiences with fun entertainment, as well as face painting, balloon animals, arts & crafts, and a variety of interactive games and activities.

Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina is a Mediterranean-style village located mid-island at mile marker 8 across from Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. It offers waterfront dining, unique shopping, live entertainment, a variety of charters and water sport activities and beautiful views of Broad Creek.

HarbourFest and Parrot Palooza are free and open to the public. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Events are weather permitting and subject to change. For more information, visit the Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina Facebook page or www.sheltercoveharbourfest.com.
