Top Dawg Tavern, a family owned and operated casual dining restaurant, has opened its fifth location, this one at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina on Hilton Head Island.
Known for its fresh food, great value and upbeat atmosphere, Top Dawg Tavern is serving lunch and dinner, seven days a week and brunch on Sundays at their new location. Stop in to enjoy amazing daily features, ice-cold cocktails and some of the island’s most memorable water views.
Years ago, owners Renee and Brett Summers dreamed up the idea of creating the perfect place for them to grab a bite to eat, have a drink, and enjoy time together with friends and family. They wanted a gathering place for everyone that was casual, yet comfy; welcoming and most importantly — fun. Being die-hard sports fans, they also wanted it to be a place to watch all their favorite sporting events.
And that is how Top Dawg Tavern was born. Top Dawg Tavern’s first restaurant opened in 2013, just outside Athens, Ga. As the years went by, the Summers expanded and opened restaurants in several other southeast communities: Columbia, SC; Summerville, SC; and Augusta, GA.
The couple has spent many years vacationing on Hilton Head Island with their daughter, Genevieve. They say they were thrilled to find a vacancy in Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina, conveniently located mid-island across from Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. “We are very excited to be a part of the Hilton Head community and look forward to being here for many years to come,” said Brett.
One feature that sets Top Dawg Tavern apart from other restaurants is their dedicated ‘Lil Dawg House — a kid’s room — with an interactive gaming floor, chalk board wall and bubble machine. “It's a different space that gives the kids their own little areas to go play, especially with so many people vacationing on Hilton Head, either with children or grandchildren or nieces and nephews,” said Renee. “It's really fun and the kids really love it. It keeps them moving and happy, not sitting around bored.”
Top Dawg Tavern is an ideal, family friendly spot that serves up tasty food, cold drinks, and good times. On weekdays, guests can select from one of TDT’s seven lunch features, like the popular Tavern Burgers made from fresh, never frozen Black Angus beef. Or how about the Boneless Wings & Fries or the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, each tossed in TDT’s tasty wing sauce? TDT even has a Build Your Own Salad with more than 20 toppings to choose from, for only $7 on weekdays.
“We wanted to make sure that we were able to offer quality, fresh food, but at an affordable price,” said Renee. “That's another thing that is very unique to us, especially on Hilton Head. There's a lot of fine dining. We are somewhere that you can go eat every day and you'll still be able to afford us. And that's one of the things that we focus on. We want to make sure that no matter who you are, what job you have or where you're coming from, you can afford to take your family out for dinner.”
On Sundays, Top Dawg Tavern opens an hour earlier, at 10 a.m., with a tempting brunch menu available until 4 p.m. TDT also offers lunch and dinner to-go and delivery via Door Dash and GrubHub.
