You may find yourself asking, what is the Great American Loop? The Great American Loop is one of the most famous long-distance boating adventures in North America. It’s a continuous boating route connected by a system of waterways (about 5,000-7,000 miles) that forms a loop around the eastern United States (and part of Canada). It’s often described as RVing the water, which the adventurous Mathers crew has taken on before. This bucket list adventure along the Loop led them to a place we all can call a second home, Hilton Head Island.

Why Shelter Cove Harbour and Palmetto Dunes Resort create the perfect atmosphere for a Hilton Head Island Family Vacation

Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina adds a lively waterfront atmosphere with restaurants, shops, live music, pontoon rentals, dolphin cruises, fishing charters, and summer events like HarbourFest fireworks and family entertainment.

Just across the road, a family stay at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort combines beach time, biking, water adventures, and easy entertainment in one area. The resort offers three miles of Atlantic beachfront, bike paths, lagoons for kayaking and fishing, tennis and pickleball courts, golf, and spacious villas or homes that work well for families.

Taylor shared, “Hilton Head was on our list for a while but to say it beat our expectations would be an understatement, we absolutely LOVED it. Rarely do Kevin and I feel like we are on vacation, but Hilton Head was different.
“Days full of bike rides with Hilton Head Outfitters Bike Rentals (slip renters receive complimentary bike rentals!), playing in the sand together at the beach, listening to live music by Neptune Statue during Music & Taste, eating delicious food like at San Miguels Mexican Café right by our boat, and enjoying beautiful sunsets! Everything about our time here was perfect!”
For boaters looking to stop at Shelter Cove Marina, Kevin and Taylor told us, “Among the many amenities Shelter Cove Marina provides boaters, it was so great to discover that your marina recycles oil which is a big benefit to boaters and the convenance of bike riding over to Kroger Grocery store was only a few minutes away.”

The Mathers family Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina vlog visit captures the charm, beauty, and welcoming spirit that make Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina a must-see stop on any Hilton Head getaway.
